Top 5 Favourite Albums

Hi! Uh, I mentioned I was gonna do stuff with FL Studio in my last post, but I couldn't for the life of me get an older free version working on linux. LMMS looks like a pain in the ass, but once I get over myself I'm gonna try it and use it. I need to do something instead of nothing.

I've been doing alright though! I went out on the town yesterday and got a pizza and a glass of wine at a bar I frequent. It was really fun there talking to the people there, it felt like I was in an episode of Cheers. Talking to people and going places is fun! :D

Went to an indie game convention the other day too, that was cool. Ran into an old bar buddy I haven't seen in a while, apparently she was helping run the event and made a game for it too! Rad :3

Anyway, I wrote for a while as well yesterday, bc I wasn't sure what to write for the blog but I knew I wanted to write *something*. So coming up are my top 5 favourite albums! Featuring, if I can do it right, pictures for each one!

5. Static-X - Machine

Static-X Machine

I have a hard time picking between this album and Wisconsin Death Trip, they're both bonafide classics, and some of the best Industrial Metal around. Machine has a lot of great driving rhythms and incredible vocals as always from Wayne Static, may he rest in peace. If you wanna bang your head off and scream your lungs out, give this one a listen for sure :D

Top 3 songs: Get to the Gone, Permanence, ...In a Bag

4. The Scary Jokes - April Fools

The Scary Jokes - April Fools

This is a great one my wife introduced me to, and I adore it alot. I can't describe it fully but something changed in me after listening to it. It gets you in a really vulnerable, fragile mood, and then builds you back up. Listen to this if you need to unpack some stuff in your life, because I definitely did.

Top 3 songs: Icicles, A Mannequin Adrift, Feelin' So Matryoshka

3. Metallica - Hardwired... to Self-Destruct

Metallica - Hardwired... to Self-Destruct

I know they have a lot of classic albums, but something about this one speaks to me. It's Metallica at their most pristine and precise, and they keep it interesting throughout with a ton of heavy riffs and incredible solos. I do also have a bit of history with this album specifically, because I got it the day of release when I was a kid. I was on vacation in DC and I picked it up at target, and my dad showed me how to rip the CD to my phone with windows media player. For some reason all of that is really vivid in my mind, and I'd like to think it's because the album is genuinely that good. Definitely different from what I was used to hearing on the radio and from my parents' CDs.

Top 3 songs: Spit Out the Bone, Am I Savage?, Dream No More

2. Kendrick Lamar - GNX

Kendrick Lamar - GNX

I'm not immune to the hype XD

I obviously have this on my mind because of the ICEMAN drop today (as of writing this), but GNX genuinely is that good of an album, apart from the beat. After listening to ICEMAN I can tell more clearly that Kendrick moved on quick while Drake is still malding over it. GNX stands on its' own with incredible beats, hard-hitting flows, and lyrics that get me thinking. I wish I had more to say about it, but I fr do just dance and bob my head to it. It has a power and energy to it that I don't hear a lot on the radio, and I respect it for that.

Top 3 songs: luther, squabble up, tv off

1. Magna-Fi (The Szuters) - Burn Out The Stars

Magna-Fi - Burn Out The Stars

If you know me personally, then you knew this was coming. You WILL enjoy my alt rock slop >:3

Real talk, the Szuters are my favourite band of all time and they have some of the catchiest, funnest songs I've ever heard :DDD I love singing along to every word and feeling so free and happy and at peace, and hopefully listening to this album gives you that vibe too.

It's hard picking an album because the Szuters genuinely have so many bangers it's insane. Or maybe I'm insane, every time I try to get my wife to listen to them she thinks they're a little samey, and fair point, thon likes Lemon Demon and I find that a little all over the place. But anyhow, I picked Burn Out The Stars because it's the first one I listened to that got me to fall in love with the band wholesale, instead of the passing interest I had from hearing "All Hail Shadow" on the Shadow the Hedgehog OST.

Top 3 songs: Where Did We Go Wrong, Seconds Minutes Hours, Drown

Hope yall enjoyed that! I like putting things in lists, it feels like I'm figuring myself out a bit when I do that. Made some peanut butter bread and ate it while transferring all of this to NeoCities. It's really good! Had one slice with some butter on it, and another with some syrup on it. Anyway here's a cool song: (YouTube link) It's "Harvest Moon" by Neil Young. Wanted to make sure that I picked one that has nothing to do with the 5 albums I put, just to get a good spread. Harvest Moon is a really magical song, in the way that it can heal a broken heart if you just sit quietly and let it. There's been plenty of nights where I zoned out to this to feel more at peace with the world for a while. Have a nice day everyone :3
